"Waiting for the Bus" (Good Omens flopsy, 300 words)

fleurdeliser gave me the prompt: waiting for the bus

"Come on, come on," the black-haired woman muttered, glancing down at her watch for the umpteenth time. 1:03 p.m. The bus should have been here ten minutes ago.

Behind her, a strange* man in a grey suit opened his umbrella.

She should've known better than to go to Chinatown for lunch. But she was sick of the cafeteria sandwiches at her building, and the lettuce they served is wilted--

A Brahms orchestra suddenly welled up in the background, cutting off the tirade in her mind.

A man donning dark sunglasses** suddenly materialized next to the mild-looking man. "Strange accompaniment for a bus stop, don't you think?"

The music abruptly changed to "Famous Last Words."

The woman looked up and down the street, frowning. Is she in one of those "candid camera" shows or something?

The two men behind her did not seem to be paying attention to her at all.

No matter, she promised Carol to fill in for the absent receptionist since they couldn't get a substitute in time. If she knew the bus was going to take this long it would've been faster for her to walk--

The song switched mid-sentence to Brahms.

The sunglasses man gave the umbrella man a look. Closing his umbrella, the man cheerfully said, "The bus is here!"

* Locals don't bother carrying an umbrella. Around here the weather is always either: cloudy, drizzling, rainy, or sunny (with sprinkles thrown in, to make sure they don't get too enthusiastic).

** The sunglasses is less out of place than the umbrella. Studies have shown that UV rays are still an ever present danger even when the sun does not appear terribly bright--or at all. Besides, the man might have just had his annual eye exam from the medical center a few blocks down.

I think I'm the man in the sunglasses XD

Actually, I don't think I know either Brahms or "Famous Last Words"...

Buses have been known to be late as much as 30 minutes you know - sometimes they don't even come and the bus on the next time slot comes instead...

Makes it awfully inconvenient for ppl like me who is too lazy to come early to appointments...

Music accompaniment for a bus stop would be nice... But I guess since there appears to be lots of geeks in this area, someone will probably hack it and stream pirated music or something to reflect their political views XD

Brahms was just the first composer that came to my mind. "Famous Last Words" is sung by fleurdeliser's favorite band, My Chemical Romance.

Haha, yeah but that's because the public transportation here sucks =P Singapore, on the other hand...

I wouldn't mind pirated music, as long as they're not overly loud. And political messages are okay as long as they're not Larouche. I'm SICK of Larouche.

Too bad I don't know much about classical music. And can't remember the songs that Crowley likes to play in his Bentley X-D

I like waiting for the bus near that B___ opera house (forgot the name). The one in front of Starbucks and across the post office.
