I skipped Merlin 2X08 and watched 2X09, because if IMO even the 2X08 _preview_ is OOC, how bad would the episode itself be? D: D: D:

I'm all caught up with Merlin 2X06 now. Arthur's neatly brushed (combed?) bangs under his crown in 2X06 makes me want nerd!Arthur fics.

1. Sorority Boys -- with Merlin, Arthur and Will. Arthur/Ann clearly must be Adam/Adina, with his complex about his/her fat ass arse >=D
Will is the stoner eternal senior who takes crossdressing in stride.
Morgana is the nearsighted sorority president, because Katie McGrath wearing glasses IS CANON. Gwen is going to beat Merlin up (or get Lancelot to beat Merlin up) when she realized Merlin had been taking showers with Morgana =O

Sir Leon can be the sleazy scumbag loser who roofied Arthur/Ann.
Cedric is the guy who stole the fraternity's money and blame Merlin.

Uther hitting on Merlin on the yatch = BONUS because he's always thought Arthur's friend isn't quite right in the head.

2. Hors de prix/Priceless -- with Merlin as the golddigger Irene and Arthur as the hotel barman Jean. Merlin mistook Arthur as a millionaire and put the moves on him. Arthur went along with the charade, fell for Merlin, etc.

A year later, the two met again at the same hotel. It's Merlin's birthday and he's had a cozy arrangement with Uther for three years now. Uther caught Merlin cheating with Arthur, Merlin threw his lot in with Arthur only to realize that he's the help AHAHAHAHAHA.

Merlin moved on to Lancelot (du Lac sr. just croaked, leaving his massive wealth to Lancelot). Arthur wouldn't give up on Merlin and ended up being Lady Helen's boy toy so he can continue going on dates with Merlin.

I stopped watching the movie at this point so IDK what happened next, haha.

3. I'm kinda tempted to claim Bluebeard over at tobreakthespell. For some reason I can't think of any happy fairy tales that match the Merlin fandom =S (that hasn't already been claimed, that is.)

3 c. I need to buy a book cover for the uber-pretty Japanese translation.

4. Only had five hours of half-sleep this morning (criminally low number for me). Kept on having vague dreams/impressions about Nick. And possibly [SPOILERY main antagonist's name].

Like a gazillion other people have said, it was GLORIOUS.

I like every single character in that movie, and that _never_ happened to me before.
Yes, including the evil Romulan guy, who I found vaguely hot (which is understandable because he was played by Eric Bana, who played Hector in Troy).
I even like Spock's mother (didn't recognize Winona Ryder until her third appearance X-D)

1. And the Americanization of this batch of second generation Asian Americans is complete.

Two weeks ago, my friend--let's call her Sara--offered a group of preschoolers-and-older children black sticky rice pudding. Sara gave each kid a spoonful and asked them to "just try it."

Girl #1: *diplomatic grin* "We don't like this. Can we have goldfish crackers please?"

Girl #2: "I want Oreos!"

Boy #1: "Brownies!"

Sara's 1.5-y.o. daughter liked it, and Girl #2 shoved her plate across the table. "I don't want it. You eat it."

Granted, Sara should have heated up the dish and served it with coconut milk (It's not black sticky rice pudding without coconut milk!111), but it made me sad that they rejected the dish outright as being unfamiliar.

Food is so intertwined with Asian culture, and I'm not sure what to think of Asian Americans who are cut off not only from their grandparents' language, but also Asian food.
...and greasy Chinese take-aways are not Chinese food X_x;;

P.S. I do find it all sorts of awesome that Girl #1 has perfectly combined Asian "Respect your elders" with American "Be polite and diplomatic to get what you want." X-D

The great thing about very short forms is that at their best they concisely express one single idea. A true drabble has to encapsulate set-up, crisis, and punchline in a mere hundred words. So it's a natural transformation, I think, to take a story and distill it into its essence, when one has only a few hundred words to work with - I think it's easier to get sidetracked when you need to write a longer story.

For the last four days or so, I've been completely engrossed in Manna Francis' Administration series. I stayed up to read until I felt like throwing up (part exhaustion and part hunger), read in the car and got even more carsick, ignored everything else on the Internet...
(Can't remember the last time I'm so addicted to a book that I went with minimum sleep. It might've been Narnia at age 17 actually. Erm.)

I'll post a proper review with fav. quotes, warnings etc. when I get the books from Amazon. There are one novella and one short story that are not available on the author's Web site.
(I'm one of those strange breed of people who almost never buy a book unless I've read it and loved it).

Important (!): since I have many EvilBlondBritishMan!Fetishist in my F-list, I am perversely happy to inform you that Toreth, the main character, is blond. Praise be, etc.

Laurence was embarrassed to see, when he glanced over, that Roland and Dyer were having not the least difficulty with their chopsticks and were already round-cheeked from stuffing food into their mouths.

He himself had only just managed to get a piece of the beef to his mouth by dint of puncturing it with one of his sticks [...]

Attachment therapy promises quick fixes and firm results and creates lasting scars instead.

1. People sometimes accuse me of "gliding." Plebeians. It's a pity that people no longer take deportment lessons.

2. I surreptitiously check my food for poison every time I eat in public. It's this handy little spell that Severus came up with. That boy will go places with his enormous talent. It is to my advantage that nobody else seems to realize this yet.

3. I have different black velvet ribbons for different occasions. Each has a different set of runes and spells woven into the fabric. My dorm mates assumed that I was just being fastidious about my appearance.

4. Whenever I brush against woolen robes, my skin gets...itchy. There's a valid reason why I insist on the highest thread count for my cotton bed sheets at Hogwarts.

5. People sometimes call me Lucifer behind my back. This adds to my fearsome reputation, and it pleases me greatly. Weasley calls me Lucy and for that he must die.

6. I always leave behind some of my favorite dishes. It wouldn't do to make it easy for people to poison me. Furthermore, gluttony is unattractive both for gentlemen and ladies.

7. I love my new snake cane. I have fantasies of whacking squaling Weasley brats with it.

So I was talking to spiderstars on MSN about The Magician's Nephew, and the conversation veered to the Bible:

Just because you're Christian doesn't mean a Christian from Korea or a Christian from S. Africa would agree with you =P

In this one passage they translated, Jesus sounds...spastic and bipolar. (ETA: without the medication, that is). I LOLed.

I have been swallowed by the adorably teeny vortex that is Jooster (Jeeves/Wooster). It's the l. that dare not s. its n. between Bertie Wooster, a useless wastrel gentleman, and Reginald Jeeves, his brainiac valet.

Long story short: a few weeks ago aldebaran1977 proclaimed the greatness of P.G. Wodehouse. I found out that there was a Jeeves and Wooster TV show with Hugh Laurie (!111) in it, watched the first three episodes, was utterly charmed, then discovered Jooster fanfiction via painless_j.

The past week, I've been steadily reading the fanfiction on indeedsir and its archive. I've read Sherlock Holmes crossover, House M.D. crossover, AU female!Bertie, AU where Bertie and Jeeves are schoolmates, the every-fandom-must-have-one AU vampire fic, and the Harry Potter pastiche fic.

Torn between his selfish cowardice and family's pride, Draco finds himself alone on a battlefield and has nowhere else to turn; and Harry has to learn that sometimes you don't put up walls to keep other people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.

Snape is an unmitigated bastard (go Snape!), Draco's v. much the product of his spoiled and pampered childhood, Harry's almighty slow in the uptake, just like canon. Hah!

Featuring besottedfather!Lucius, horse!Animagus, unicorn at Malfoy Manor, middle-income!Pansy, Harry/Narcissa, and GUH Tom Riddle.
