Here's a Harry who idolizes Snape and is not above lying to achieve his ends. Here's a Draco who doesn't want to attract attention and is adored (and obeyed) by House-elves.
I want this series to end as H/D, of course ;-) And the seventh book is titled Here Be Dragyns *fangirlslikewhoa*

4. 1ightning's "Better When We’re Together" (Oneshot, Slytherin!Ron, Ron/Draco, R, 12,500 words)
In which Ron is sorted into Slytherin, and it all goes to hell from there.
My request was: AU!Sorting. Ron had a fatal thought that made the Hat sort him into Slytherin. Draco and Ron proceeded to bond over their jealousy toward Potter (who avoided Ron because he was afraid of catching Slytherin germs).

“Ah, another Weasley, no surprise where you’re going.”

What, you already know? Ron thought petulantly. The sorting ritual might not have been to vanquish a troll like Fred and George had told him, but unless he was mistaken, his entire personality had been judged in three seconds flat by an old hat. Just what he needed.

6.--Sorta, but not really. I'm reccing this one with some reservations. It's super-addictive and the author's an update machine, but the characterization can get annoying v. v. fast. It's an experiment in taking the premises used in BadFics and somehow producing good writing.

3. anjenue's "The Matrix" (WIP, H/D, rated R)
H. James Dursley had always known he was different. He just never knew how much. Crossover: Harry Potter meets The Matrix.
Only one chapter so far, but what a glorious one chapter it is! X-D I won't spoil you re: who Morpheus and the crew are.

...and I would rec The Tale of the Shining Prince (H/D, NC-17), which is based on Hikaru Genji Monogatari, but omg that is the darkest fic I've read yet in the HP fandom. Read it if you enjoy having your heart torn into bits and patched together with thread without anesthetics. The story is brilliant, but don't say I didn't warn you if you feel like slitting your wrists afterward.

It's not a OMG-what-happens-next kind of story. Read it one chapter at a time to let everything sink in.
My new year's resolution is to update this fic at least once a month.

Dark and Light Magic Itty Bitty Rec:

1. mirabella_fic’s Shadow of His Wings (H/D, R, WIP).
In which Evil faces an insurrection, Good faces an unexpected betrayal, and Harry means to find out which side Draco is on.

Again, it’s currently 269,500 words. That's the equivalent of a 674-page novel.
Go read it before I smite you. The writing is just so awesome it makes you believe.

2. kc_anathema's Oath Breaker (HP/DM, LM/SS in the future, AU 6th year, Complete)
At the start of seventh year, the Malfoys perform a dramatic double-cross and Draco educates Harry about what exactly dark magic is.

This is what's missing from Rowling's world: meaningful demarcation between "Light" and "Dark" magic. As opposed to 15 y.o. kids defeating the big bad Death Eaters (who have the Unforgivables in their arsenal) with jelly-legs jinx.

It's Way Too Cool.

3. kc_anathema's Spoils of War (H/D, NC-17)
After Lucius and Draco are wrongly cast into slavery by the Ministry, Harry and Severus buy their respective Malfoys back from those who would hurt them.

*. Bonus rec: kc_anathema's "Paper Dragons" (H/D pre-slash, PG)
Draco-centric one-shot, where Draco works on catching something rather precious to him.

This is the fic that made me stop and take notice of kc_anathema. I then read her H/D fics and was instantly hooked.

1. profmckitten's Different Worlds (NC-17, H/D romance, Completed)
AU-Draco is sent to Durmstrang for the first five years of his schooling. How ever does he and Harry end up together?

2. nomango's Turnaround (Durmstrang!Draco, WIP)
So what if Harry didn't get AK'ed? Instead, Lucius died that night, and Narcissa ended up in Azkaban, and Draco became, in effect, the orphan.

My prompt was:

There isn't enough Durmstrang!Draco/Beauxbatons!Draco in the world, so I'd like one where the fact that Draco went to Durmstrang/Beauxbatons is a major plot device (i.e. It is crucial to drive the plot forward, as opposed to being a throwaway point.) Please keep the Madam Malkin's meeting in there. So Draco was trying on his Durmstrang/Beauxbatons uniform.

Draco speaking English with a slight accent = <3, but please do not render this phonetically (like Fleur's "ze" and Viktor's incomprehensible speech) because those things drive me crazy.

Uhh...and Draco's second meeting with Harry, Draco totally should be wearing his school uniform (Furry hats if Durmstrang, Blue ribbons if Beauxbatons X-D) And if you can throw in a tie kink in there I'll love you forever. Sex is not necessary. Plot please :-D

2. pir8fancier's "Let's Pretend the War Is Over"
(H/D, PG-13, insane!Draco, one-shot, 8000 words)
Post war fic. Draco spends his days debating whether or not he's crazy. Harry is the take-away king.

The mandate of not talking to hallucinations was one line he was determined not to cross, no matter how tempting.

"You look like you haven't eaten for a week."

Surely a look at the table where the roses had lain there plotting his complete mental collapse would be permissible.

"The roses. Because of the roses you couldn't eat."

Draco shrugged. Shrugging seemed relatively harmless as far as the hallucinations went.

"Fucking hell, Malfoy."

For some odd reason, Potter was fighting back tears.

3. Ella Bane's Episode Nine: Time Again and Again (H/D, insane!Draco?, insane!HarryTwo, R, AU, The Pendulum of Choice universe)

He watched Draco finish off his braid. It was quite long. Draco murmured "Harry" again and gently began threading his fingers through Harry's hair. He decided it was better to let Draco do as he would. It was harmless. It was also soothing. He eyed Draco sideways before looking at Snape again.
